Invisible Path Between the 2nd and 4th Floor
Loudspeakers, Guidance Systems
Sound walk with an audience, taking place in a dark room of the Luther Tower (of the Luther Church), where multiple hidden speakers are installed.
Field recordings captured at the Paderborn wastewater treatment facility are played through speakers concealed among the room’s existing structural elements, such as a hole in the ceiling, radiators, and pipes. The recordings come from my research, Klangliche Routen der häuslichen Wasserversorgung, and are re-composed in response to the architecture, forming an independent work that completes itself in dialogue with the space.
This work is the second outcome of my exploration into water systems flowing through buildings and the possibilities of acoustic experience.
Before the walk begins, I—both performer and guide—ask the audience of about twenty-five people to line up and wait in the stairwell below this room. I then lead them in a slow, steady tempo through the space, guiding them to move with me as we pass through the dark and sounding room. We exit into the next stairwell, where the walk ends.
This work was shown in 2025 as part of Soirée Sonique #99 at LTK4 in Cologne.
